For structures in civil and construction engineering, naturally caused actions can be of greater importance than the service loads. During this course, the effects of earthquakes or wind actions in different structures were outlined. In the first part, foundations of dynamic and seismic calculations were discussed along with a wide range of applications using the COSMOS/M program. Wind actions for structures were lectured followed by a demonstration of the ASESTOR program developed at the University of Coruña, Spain. Then an introduction to aeroelasticity and methods of obtaining aerodynamic forces in bridges were mentioned. Finally, the present status of these techniques was discussed together with the techniques employed when the Vasco de Gama bridge in Lisbon was designed.
