ERA 2000 - Bridge over the mouth of Tokyo bay

The future construction of this project will complete the road infrastructure of one of the most prosperous areas of Japan, the metropolitan area of Tokyo.

The shortest distance at the mouth of Tokyo is approximately 7 km, however taking into account the geological and navigational conditions among others, the proposed bridge trajectory between Yokosuka in Miura peninsula and Futtsu in Boso peninsula has a total of 12 km of distance.

Because the marine bed in eastern half of the plan is fairly flat and not very deep, the main structure is designed to be a suspension bridge with 3 spans, which cover the 1750 meter of international navigation channel. Therefore the main span will have a length of 2250 meters. The remarkable characteristics of the bridge is that the main cables have to be anchored to the sea floor.

The maximum water depth is about 45 meters and a rocky layer is expected 10 meter below the ocean bed.
