Optimization of structural systems and industrial applications

This book contains the works presented during the second international conference on Computer Aided Optimum Design of Structures, OPTI91, held in Cambridge, Massachusets, (USA) in June, 1991. The presented papers cover a wide range of structural optimization fields. Some of the presentations deal with new optimization techniques as well as the improvement of existing methods. The practical applications included here correspond to aerospace, mechanical, and civil engineering, among others. The structural behaviours considered here are static and dynamic loads, seismic actions and fatigue. Materials such as steel, concrete and compound materials are analyzed in several works. Contributions related to expert systems and integrated design programs are significant as well.
